So I haven't been using dreamwidth as much but one thing I've noticed: unlike Twitter and Tumblr (and Ao3), there's no 'like' button. Which sort of forces me to actually comment on things so people know I like their work.

Even when I had an LJ, I didn't do that. I was way too shy and awkward so I ended being a lurker 90% of the time.
